I wondered if you could help me or could point me in the right direction My father is a non resident of Australia, he has some kind of renewable extended stay visa which allows him to stay in this coundtry for periods of up to 12 months at a time. He is wanting to buy a relocateable home on a permanent site for the time he is in this country. I believe there are laws which determine what a non resident can and cannot buy but I don’t know what they are.
Thankyou
Angelina Dickenson
The FIRB web site will be a good starting point for you.

I am seeking legal advice, or some form of contact.
I have been recently been made redundant from a Private Airport Corporation here in Brisbane due to a “company restructure”, or as I like to call it, Unfair Dismissal, due to an pre-existing illness that had returned in Sept 2006.
I have been left with a novated lease vehicle, to which I cannot afford to keep, or payout. This vehicle novation was a requirement of my role, in which I had no choice but to accept as was not allowed to use my own private vehicle for work purposes. I now am half way through this 3 year period.
Could you please advise where I can obtain guidance on this issue.
You assistance will be greatly appreciated.
Response:
I suggest that you take advice from a specialist employment lawyer. Ask about Government help with your legal costs under Work Choices.

We have purchased an electrical solution software package from a QLD supplier in 2003, we have been enjoying the facility this program offers us, however we have recently upgraded our computers and therefore require a new software key.
The supplier has refused to provide a software key, as he believes that we are placing this software on additional machines, (this is of course incorrect).
Do we have any recourse with this supplier and if we do what would this be?
Thank you for your assistance in advance.
Joe
Response:
I suggest that you have your local lawyer write a letter of demand confirming that the software is not being installed on additional machines. I assume that you have also sought to obtain a copy of the original terms of software licence.
